RAFT is a long term disaster recovery group comprised of volunteers seeking to provide three main areas of assistance:

Support for Flood-Impacted Residents:
Assist with debris removal, insulation, mold remediation, and securing funding for future recovery projects.
Preparedness and Education:
Help homeowners and communities prepare for future floods through education, practical steps, and building neighborhood connections.
Community Empowerment and Coordination:
Train neighbors as disaster case managers, act as liaisons between residents and other organizations, and foster local support networks.

Prem Linsky - Chair
Prem has been doing disaster response and recovery work since 2016 when he worked in Fiji after Cyclone Winston with All Hands and Hearts. He has responded to earthquakes in Nepal where he helped build schools, floods in Louisiana, fires in Tennessee, hurricanes in St. Thomas, and was recently the Program Director of their Vermont Floods program in 2023 and their Maui, Hawaii wildfire program in Lahaina. He holds a BA in Community and International Development from UVM. Prem is glad to be home in Vermont serving his local community and working to build a more resilient Vermont.

Barb Winters -Treasurer
After 5 major career changes (service industry,, manufacturing, healthcare, environmental field and brain injury specialist) Barb has retired. She has been on several boards and commissions, both at the Huntington town level and with statewide groups. Living in Huntington for 40+ years in an owner built home has made her appreciate how special this area is. Gardening, traveling , reading books, x-country skiing, learning new things and volunteering for causes are Barb’s passions. The RAFT organization offers the opportunity to help others in so many ways and will be needed long term as we grapple with the issues caused by climate change.
